The searches that matter for a shop like this are the ones that end with someone walking in. board game stores near me sits at 9.1. local game stores near me at 7.3. pokemon cards near me at 9.0, which is the one that brings a parent and a kid in on a Saturday.
398 different "near me" searches now show the shop. When the data starts, it was a handful.
What the work was
Nothing exotic. Product schema on the inventory, so Google can read what's in stock. Category pages with real titles. Cleanup on pages nobody had looked at in a while. One of those was the custom woodwork page, which was nearly deleted. It now pulls its own traffic.
What didn't move
Clicks held roughly flat while impressions more than doubled. The shop shows up far more often than it did, but the share of people clicking hasn't caught up. The rankings are there. The titles and descriptions on the category pages need to earn the click, and the Google Business Profile needs a real push so the shop wins the map instead of sitting under it.
If you run a shop in Charles County
A few things from this account that apply to most small shops between Waldorf, La Plata and Indian Head:

- People search by town as well as "near me". Put the town you're in on your homepage title and your Business Profile, and mention the towns you pull customers from in plain sentences.
- Your inventory is content. If you sell things people search by name, product schema is the cheapest visibility you'll get.
- Check the pages you want to delete. Look at their Search Console numbers first. The woodwork page almost went.
- Impressions without clicks is a title problem. Before you write more, rewrite the titles you have.
