Roofers get SEO pitches every week, from $99 a month to $5,000. Here's what the market charges, what you get at each level, and how to tell if a quote is worth it.

What the market charges

The best public data we know of is Ahrefs' survey of 439 SEO providers, last updated in April 2026. Average monthly retainers:

Provider Average per month
Freelancers $1,349
Local SEO, all providers $1,557
Local agencies $1,819
All agencies $3,209

For hourly work, the most common local SEO rate was $75 to $100 an hour. For one-off projects, the most common range was $2,501 to $5,000.

What each level usually buys

Under $300 a month. Usually a report and some automated directory listings. Sometimes blog posts nobody reads. Rarely anyone looking at your actual site.

$600 to $1,000. Upkeep: updates, speed, tracking checks, fixes as they come up, a monthly report. Good for a site that's already in shape.

$1,200 to $2,000. Someone building things every month: new town and service pages, Business Profile work, on-page fixes. This is where most single-location roofers should be if they want growth.

$2,500 and up. Several locations or a big metro, or an agency with account managers on top of the person doing the work.

How to think about it as a roofer

Work backwards from one job. If an average job is worth $10,000 to you, one extra job a month from Google pays for a plan at almost any of these levels, several times over. So the useful question is whether a plan will plausibly bring in one more job a month within six months or so, and whether you'll be able to see it when it does.

That last part matters. If you can't tell which calls came from Google, you can't judge any of these prices. Get call tracking in place before you sign anything long.

Red flags

  • "Guaranteed first place on Google." Nobody controls Google. Anyone promising this is either lying or planning to rank you for a phrase nobody searches.
  • They own your accounts. Your Google Analytics, Search Console, Business Profile and website should be in your name. If you leave, you take them with you.
  • Twelve-month lock-ins. Three months is fair, because SEO takes that long to show. A year with no exit isn't.
  • Reports with rankings and no calls. Rankings are an input. Calls and booked jobs are the result.
  • No one can tell you what they'll do this month. You should get a plain list.

What we charge

Our prices are on the pricing page: a $750 audit, a one-time $1,800 setup, and monthly plans at $600 and $1,500, with multi-location from $2,500. You own every account, the minimum is three months, and after that it's month to month. The first payment on any plan is covered by a 100% money-back guarantee for 30 days.

The $1,500 Growth plan is built for roofers: two new town or service pages a month, Business Profile upkeep and a monthly call on what moved. The roofing results behind it are on the roofing SEO page.
