Pool deck work is a good business to be found for. Homeowners search with a clear problem ("pool deck cracking", "resurface pool deck") and they're usually ready to get quotes. A lot of companies in the space have a one-page website and a Business Profile, and that's the whole marketing plan.

We work on a pool deck repair site in Florida. Here's how we'd set one up from scratch.

One page per service

People search for the specific job, so each job needs its own page:

  • pool deck resurfacing
  • crack repair
  • cool deck or knockdown finishes
  • paver and travertine installation
  • sealing and cleaning
  • coatings for concrete decks

Each page should explain what the job involves, how long it takes, how long it lasts, and what it looks like done, with your own photos. A page that tries to cover all six ranks for none of them.

Answer the questions people ask

These come up in almost every pool deck search:

  • Can you resurface over cracked concrete?
  • How long before we can use the pool again?
  • How long does a resurfaced deck last?
  • Is it slippery when wet?
  • What does it cost per square foot?

Answer them on the service pages in two or three sentences each. On cost, a range with what pushes it up or down is more useful than "call for a quote", and it brings you better-qualified calls.

Before-and-after proof

This is a visual trade. Every job should end with a before photo and an after photo from the same angle. Put them on the service page that matches the job, on the town page for where it was, and on your Google Business Profile. The same idea works for pool decks as for roofers: one real page per town, with real jobs on it.

The right map category

You may not find a category that says "pool deck repair" exactly, so pick the closest primary category for the work you do most, and check what the top three companies in your area use. Search for them on Google Maps; the category shows under the name. Add secondary categories only for work you actually sell.

Set your service area to the towns you want work in, up to Google's limit of 20, and keep it within about two hours of driving. We go through the rest of the setup in Google Business Profile setup for roofing companies, and almost all of it applies to deck companies too.

Timing

Pool deck work tends to bunch up before pool season and after storms. Pages take weeks to months to start ranking, so the ones you want working in spring should be live over the winter. Publish now, and add new job photos to each page as you go.

Track what comes in

Count calls from the site and quote form submissions, so you know which service pages bring in work. Call tracking for contractors covers the setup, and most of it is free.

If you'd like help, the Site Audit will tell you which pages are missing and what we'd fix first. Or book a free call and send us your site before we talk.
